Saturday Scripts Live
Presentation Information
Thank you so much for being a part of our weekly response to Covid’s impact on live theatre. As a production company, Real Live Entertainment couldn’t simply “go black” until predictability returned to the world. So engaging performers in what they love to do, is our way of keeping everyone’s creative juices flowing.
Below you’ll find all the information you need to know in advance of our reading.
+ What's needed of me?
Not a whole lot.
- First, Like Real Live Entertainment on Facebook. (This is where the livestream will be broadcast from.)
- Give the script a read over, aloud perferably.
- Tell your social circles about the reading. We aren't doing this for the sake of an audience, but it's nice when they're there.
- Install Zoom on your computer, tablet or phone (in that order of preference) and sign-up for an account. (It's possible to use Zoom via a web browser too, but it's a diminished experience.)
- Use the provided link to log-in to the Zoom meeting at call time. And that's about it.
+ Should I print off a copy of the script?
Actually, it works best to read the script off your screen, if the file can be displayed just below your camera. That way, your reading looks like you're looking straight at the audience.
+ Will there be rehearsals?
It's great if everyone can get together in advance for a read through. At the same time, I recogize that not everyone has oodles of free time to pursue their passions. And for casts of +10, it can be tricky to find a time that works for everyone.
So, no rehearsal time is required. But if we can arranage it, it can be a real benefit.
+ Do I need to dress up, have props or a specific background?
Not particularly. At the end of the day, these readings are to engage the artists. So, if they want to go crazy with costumes, props and sets, more power to them! My emphasis is making sure we as artists are connecting over great scripts. Anything beyond that is extra in my books. :)
+ Where can people watch our reading?
We livestream to the Real Live Entertainment Facebook page, and then afterwards I clean up the video and post it to Youtube.
